Methodology & disclosure
How rankings are built
Businesses in our guides are ordered using criteria anyone can verify:
- Published review volume and rating on Google, with the count and retrieval date recorded;
- Licensing status (Technical Safety BC / municipal business licence), checked against public registries;
- Response-time checks — we contact providers as ordinary consumers and record time-to-reply;
- Service coverage — confirmed service areas and offered services.
We record the source and date for every data point, and each guide states when its data was last collected. We describe businesses using verifiable facts only.
How cost guides are built
Cost pages are built from real quotes we collect from local providers using a fixed, identical scenario (home size, equipment age, job scope), requested as ordinary consumers. We publish ranges, medians, sample sizes, and the collection month — never individual companies' quotes.
Editorial independence & paid relationships
Rankings cannot be bought. Businesses may pay for enhanced display — verified badges, expanded profiles, photos — and any such relationship is labelled on the page. Paid features never change ranking order or ranking criteria. Lead and quote-request forms may route to participating businesses; participation is also disclosed and also never affects rankings.
Corrections
If you represent a listed business and believe any data point is wrong, contact us with documentation and we will verify and correct it promptly.
